Guide in Deciding if You Should Shift to Sales Career/Networking Business

Are you fed up with your low salary income?

So now you may be sick AND TIRED of your day or night job that leaves you frustrated, unaccomplished and under paid. You spent years of service to a company you think does not deserve your loyalty and hard work, so you are now looking for a career that will give you a better income that will compensate you for your hard work. Yes, a sales career can do that to you. And you know now that money is in selling. The question is what product, what company and when do you take the leap. It is the question I know some of you asks friends, relatives or your better half. Here are some guiding questions before taking the leap and I hope you find it useful before deciding YOUR OWN BUSINESS or career future.

Does it sound absurd? If it's too good to be true, then maybe it is. It is the same principle as to investment. If they promise you the moon and the stars, that is just like a marriage proposal. Everything is roses but that's not a sales career. Maybe you are talking to a scammer or a bad recruiter giving you the best side of joining the business. Not just because you chose a company to represent with a good reputation and promises you of millions to earn will equal to instant wealth. A sales career is hard work that compensates you big time for your big work while your normal 8-5 job offers you FIXED INCOME no matter how hard you are working. But the 'big time' comes with hard work. If you want to earn like others do, you need to get up each day, dress up and work on it. So, study your business options and the person recruiting you. This will be your future business, after all and you don't want to fall to scams. 

Do you know someone who made money through the career? Do you know someone whose life seems better after joining that career? Do you know someone staying in that career for 10 years or 25 years? All of these are questions I know. But these are good guiding questions you can ask yourself when dealing with that decision. I don't need checks named to someone you know to convince me to join the business or career. I don't need brand new cars to show they are rich. Cars can be bought at Php150,000 down payment with a MORTGAGE of 2 to 5 years to pay. If you are wise enough, the car your recruiter or business partner uses doesn't show the whole picture. I advise you go to talk to someone or other people who knows someone that works there and ask them how they are doing in that business. You can also go to their office and listen to what others say truthfully. Talk to someone much older than you and ask them why they stay in that career or business, you will get your answers to those questions. Why do I ask if I know someone staying in the business or career for 10 years or 25 years? If I know somebody staying there for a long time, that gives me an impression that people there earns really good and stays there for good. That will give me the somehow a safe feeling that my business or company will be there on my twilight years and my future clients. We are all going that path 10 years or more from now, and we should look out for our own future. 

Are you willing to be managed? Are you coachable? If you are at the position in your current company where you can already command and manage people under your wings, are you still willing to be managed? Some find it hard to follow once they start being a leader. And that is one fundamental question in joining a sales career. In a sales career, you might experience being handled by someone younger, someone with less education or no college degree at all to manage you. These people, although generally speaking you are better than (in age, in educational attainment) is far more experienced than you in that field, in that sales field or business to be exact. These people made money, proved their worth and fetched greater experience to coach you, lead you and manage you. This also entails that if you are wrong, don't expect them to be lenient to you just because you are older or held management positions before joining them. In the sales career, age and education has no bearing. If you can prove you are good, they can promote you. Are you willing to learn? Sales career is new to you so you have study real hard. It requires studying the basics of carrying a conversation to closing a deal. 

Are you willing to work hard? Sales career or business is not easy. It is not like selling fishballs or kwek-kwek (quail eggs in orange flour coating dip fried). You have to study, learn how to sell and get up each time you are rejected. Rejection is a part of it. That is why you are given a salary or commission handsomely or better than your job right now. Because selling is not easy. But once you learn, selling will be as easy as talking or just eating.
